Beekeeping 101: Join Us for a Sweet Introduction to Beekeeping

Blog

At R&B Rhyne Farms, we believe in sustainable practices that give back to the earth. That's why we're excited to host "Beekeeping 101" – a comprehensive workshop for aspiring beekeepers and anyone curious about these remarkable pollinators.

What You'll Discover

Whether you're dreaming of harvesting your own honey or simply want to support pollinators in your garden, this workshop provides the perfect foundation. Our experienced instructor, Trevor Johnson of Johnson Family Farm, will guide you through:

  • The fascinating biology of honeybees and their crucial role in our ecosystem

  • Essential components of a successful beehive

  • Seasonal management techniques to keep your colony thriving

  • The art of honey harvesting

  • Must-have tools and protective gear for safe beekeeping

Why Beekeeping Matters to Us

As Harnett County's Farm Family of the Year for 2023, we understand the delicate balance between farming and supporting natural systems. Beekeeping aligns perfectly with our mission of providing quality food while giving back to the earth through sustainable practices.

Just as we use rotational grazing and silvopasture to build healthy soil for our pasture-raised beef, pork, and chickens, beekeeping creates another wonderful connection to the land that sustains us all.

What to Expect

This beginner-friendly course combines classroom instruction with hands-on demonstrations, giving you both knowledge and practical experience. You'll leave with the confidence to begin your own beekeeping journey right here in North Carolina.

About Your Hosts

After transitioning from urban life to our peaceful farm in Angier, we've developed a passion for sustainability and creating a healthy environment. What started with chickens and gardening has grown into a diverse family farm offering pasture-raised meats and free-range eggs.

We look forward to sharing our "goodness" with you – not just through our farm products, but through education and community connection.

Come grow with us!
